    History of Patna Region

    KVS Patna Region came into existence in the year 1970. Earlier it was known as the Eastern Region which included Guwahati Region, Silchar Region, Calcutta Region & Bhubaneswar Region. Earlier it was running in the temporary building. After a lot of efforts taken by Sh. S Modawal the then Assistant Commissioner (now the post is known as the Deputy Commissioner) of Patna Region shifted to its own building in the year 2000.

    Patna Region is one of the Regions of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan out of 25 Regions. Patna Region covers all Kendriya Vidyalayas of Bihar State. Patna Region has 49 schools in First Shift and 04 Schools in Second Shift. These Schools are managed and looked after by the three Assistant commissioners under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner. The Primary aim of the Patna Region is to fulfil/achieve targets of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan as per the guidelines provided by the authority of the KVS Headquarters and to produce better results in every sphere including all round development of the students.

    Madam Nidhi Pandey, IIS, Honourable Commissioner is the Chief Executive Head of the Sangathan and the Chief Administrator of Kendriya Vidyalayas. At the Headquarters, she is supported by two Additional Commissioners and five Joint Commissioners and other officials.

    Each Vidyalaya is managed by a Principal who is assisted by the Vidyalaya Management Committee consisting of 13 members. Vidyalaya Management Committee is headed by the Chairperson. These Vidyalayas belong to three sectors namely, Defence Sector, Civil Sector and Project Sector. Out of 49 KVs, 38 KVs are of Civil Sector, 8 KVs are of Defence Sector and 3 KVs are of Project Sector.  Generally, these Vidyalayas cater for the Educational needs of wards of Central Government Employees . Wards of State Govt. Employees and the floating population can also seek admission depending upon the availability of vacancies in different classes on priority basis. These Vidyalaya have become pace setter institutions and are in great demand.
